The Akita Vocal Music Collegium Mixed Choir

The group was founded in 1988 with the aim of revitalizing local musical activities by bringing together vocalists and pianists mainly from the northern part of the prefecture, and after performing large-scale operas such as "The Marriage of Figaro," "Carmen," and "Die Fledermaus" until 2009, it has shifted its focus to choral activities.
In 2012, they formed a mixed chorus group, and together with the female chorus, they have been developing music activities rooted in the community.
Last year, Canto Amsel (female chorus) won the Grand Prix in the senior division.

Yumiko Misawa graduated from the Kunitachi College of Music.She debuted in the role of Cherubino in the Akita Prefectural Opera "The Marriage of Figaro".
She has been involved in the planning,and performance of many operas.Recently,she has focused on conducting her all-woman choir,leading them to the national competition five times,and winning the highest award,twice.She received the Kinouchi Music Award in 2008 and 2023.In 2023, she won the Grand Prix in the Senior Division of the 5th Tokyo International Choir Competition.
She currently serves as Director for the Akita Vocal Music Collegium and as a permanent member of Akita Prefectural Chorus Federation.
