The Choir of Evgeni Mikeladze Central Music School

The Choir of Evgeni Mikeladze Central Music School was founded in 2010 and involves 8-25-year old boys and girls performing Georgian traditional folk songs and chants. The choir main goal is sharing Georgian culture in different parts of the world. Over the 10-year period several international projects were accomplished:
• 2012 - Golden Gate International Choral Festival, San Francisco, USA (Special Prize for Global Heritage and certificate for international friendship and cultural exchange, documentary “Georgian Perspective”);
• 2013 – Idaho International Choral Festival, solo concerts in Montana State and Washington DC;
• 2013 – International Folklore Festival, Rome;
• 2014 – World Peace Choral Festival, Vienna (Performances at St. Stephen’s Cathedral, Golden Hall Musikverein, UN Headquarters in Vienna. UN certificate for peace and the angle of peace);
• 2015 – Canti Veris Choral Festival, Prague, solo concerts in Prague and Bustehrad, Czech Republic;
• 2016 – Georgian days in Norway and Latvia;
• 2016 – Sing a Mile High Choral Festival, Denver, International Choral Festival, Missoula, solo concerts in Colorado and Montana States, Conference of Choral Music at the University of Montana;
• 2017 – International Choral Festival in Yekaterinburg (The second place, certificate for being the audience's favorite performer);
• 2018 – Sing a Mile High Choral Festival, Denver, Golden Gate Choral Festival, San Francisco (Golden certificates). Solo concerts in Colorado and Arizona States (including Georgian Alphabet presentation at Arizona State University), Gualala (Northern California) and Los Angeles.
• 2019 – “Paparac Kvetka Choir Forum”, Minsk, Belarus (nomination of “Pearl”, nomination of “the best conductor” to the choir director), “Mundus Cantat International Choral Festival, Sopot, Poland (silver Certificates, special financial prize for presenting national culture), Independence Day of Georgia in Minsk.
• 2019 - World Peace Choral Festival, Vienna (Performances at Wiener Konzerthaus, Golden Hall Musikverein, UN Headquarters in Vienna, and St. Rupert’s Church. UN certificate for peace and the angle of peace).
• 2020-2021 the choir successfully participated in Vienna, Beijing, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Otar Taktakishvili world online festivals.
• 2022 – UK Edinburg, ST. Andrews, Llangollen, Lancaster, Norwich, London.
• 2023 - International festival FIMU, Belfort. France.
• 2023 – USA. Los Angeles, San Francisco-Golden gate choral festival (Silver certificates and Global Heritage Award: Command Performance), Missoula-Montana international choral festival, New York and New Jersey-Morristown.

Choir concert program is very unique. It lasts for 1 hour and intends virtual traveling from the western regions of Georgia to the east. To specify, within the concert the choir performs 1-2 songs from each of the regions with appropriate verbal presentation of the meaning, history and musical and other kind of differences. Therefore, international audience is always excited and attracted by the performance.

Badri Jimsheleishvili

"Badri Jimsheleishvili was born on February 16th of 1966 in Tbilisi, Georgia. He graduated from the Tbilisi State Conservatoire in 1992 from the Department of Conducting.
In 1983-1995 Mr. Jimsheleishvili composed POP music and produced recordings. At the same time, he was a composer and a singer in the Georgian POP group “Dream and Reality”. During this period, he was actively involved in Georgian show business.
From 1990 till now, he has been the founder and the director of the Chanters Group of the Church of St. Panteleimon the Healer (http://chantersgroup.webs.com). Within the “Chanters Group” Mr. Jimsheleishvili has successfully organized several international projects as well as received different awards and honors. Besides, in 1992-1994 he was a member of the Georgian State Choir.
In 2004 Mr. Jimsheleishvili was invited to the Tbilisi Evgeni Mikeladze Central Music School as a teacher of the Georgian folk songs. In 2010 with support of the school administration he founded the Choir of Evgeni Mikeladze Central Music School (http://chant-folk-choir.webs.com). Since then Badri has been its conductor and director. With his hard work and high motivation, the choir has become professional and internationally recognized. After the choir’s participation in the World Peace Choral Festival in Vienna, Mr. Jimsheleishvili was invited to the artistic committee of the festival.
In addition, Badri Jimsheleishvili is an author and a composer of several songs and arrangements.
