Garkalne mixed choir choir “Pa saulei” was founded in 2009 by young and talented Marta Ozola who has been choir’s artistic director ever since. The choir 's artistic performance is complemented by conductor Janis Ozols and young conductor Liga Znutina.
The high music quality and good results in contests are one of motivators not to stop and set and achieve new goals! In 2018 “Pa Saulei” took Golden prize in Folk category and Silver prize in Classical category in Busan Choral Competition in South Korea. In 2019 choir was awarded with 3rd place at 51st Tolosa Choral contest. In 2022 choir participated in 59th “SEGHIZZI” International Choral singing competition and was awarded with 1st prize in Folk category, 3rd prize in Polyphonic and 3rd prize in Grand Prix. In 2023 “Pa Saulei” was awarded 3rd prize for mixed choir and folklore categories in 17th International choir competition in Tallin, as well as awarded 2nd prize in Latvian Song and Dance Festival Mixed Choir Contest Final.
Choir “Pa saulei” stages music of different style and era. Latvian folk songs are taking special place in choir’s repertoire and are performed with deep understanding of Latvian traditions and sometimes a bit of humor.

Marta Ozola

Marta Ozola is one of the brightest and most creative choir conductors in Latvia.
Marta has been a member of professional Latvian vocal group Latvian Voices and took part in several international a cappella competition across Europe.
Since 2009 Marta Ozola has been artistic director of Garkalne mixed choir “Pa Saulei” and with support of her husband and conductor Jānis Ozols has taken choir to many international choral events around the world. Marta Ozola always chooses musical program to show culture and musical traditions of Latvia which inspires singers and leads to unique and exciting performance.

Liga Znutina

Līga Znutiņa is a choir conductor and music teacher. Līga has obtained bachelor's degree in choir conducting at Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of music and now continuing studies at the Master’s program.
Līga Znutiņa has participated in many competitions, festivals both as a singer and a conductor. In 2019 Līga has been awarded 2nd place in Imants Kokars international competition for young choir conductors and 1st place in competition Silver Bells as a vocalist. Līga has gained experience participating in projects with the Latvian Radio Choir and the State Choir Latvia. Since 2022 Līga is choirmaster of choir “Pa Saulei”.
