The Tokyo Bay Youth Choir (commonly known as TBYC) is a choir of around 30 members, primarily in their 20s and 30s. It is led by Kaoru Tani, who studied choral conducting in Austria. The choir's main repertoire consists of choral works widely performed in Austria, Germany, and across Europe. They won first place in the Chamber Choir category of the Tokyo International Choir Competition in 2021.

Kaoru Tani

Kaoru Tani received a bachelor’s degree in vocal music from the Kunitachi College of Music in Tokyo and later moved to Austria to pursue advanced studies in choral conducting. She studied choral and orchestral conducting at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna and further specialized in choral conducting under Johannes Prinz at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz. After returning to Japan in 2017, she has been actively engaged as a choral conductor, primarily in the Tokyo metropolitan area. She currently serves as the principal conductor for vocalconsort initium, Hugo Distler Vokalensemble, Tokyo Bay Youth Choir, and others.
