Ying Wa College Choir

Ying Wa College Choir was founded in the 1930s. Established as the Chapel Choir in their early years, the College Choir currently consists of three choirs, namely the Chapel Choir, the College Choir, and the Senior Choir, totalling 100 members. They sing regularly in school assemblies, services, and on other public occasions. Over the past 8 decades, the College Choir participated in numerous religious and joint school choral activities. The Choir has been awarded various championships and prizes in the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival and Winter Choral Festival. Beyond Hong Kong, the Choir has performed and participated in cultural exchanges in countries including Japan, Finland, Canada, the United States, the Netherlands, England, Sweden, and Norway. Most recently, they competed in the Taipei International Choral Competition 2024, where they achieved Gold Awards in three categories, including the Male Choir Category, in which they were crowned champion.

Hui Ka Chun Ernest

Hui Ka Chun Ernest

Ernest Hui is a homegrown composer and choral conductor based in Hong Kong. He was the music director of the Macao Cultural Centre Children’s Choir, and was an a cappella coach for Vocal Asia, teaching in Shanghai, Hangzhou and Guangzhou. He has participated in multiple productions with the Yat Po Singers as a performer, composer and choral director. Hui’s music frequented festivals and concerts. His choral work When the Stars Wish Upon You was nominated as top 5 finalists for the CASH Best Serious Composition Award, and was Set Piece for the 76th Hong Kong Schools Music Festival.
